We Are Bangladeshi

Remember a blog i wrote few days back on "I'm Bangladeshi, NOT Indian"? This blog started with my boss how he called me "Indian". Well, it wasn't his fault or anything, i also mentioned on my blog that it was OUR fault. Well, my boss sent me a surprising email today. I'm just pasting it here

Junal.  Once again I am sorry I though Bangladesh was a place in India.  I'm sorry if I offended you.  :)

I am only good at a couple things -- and Geography isn't one of them.  I would never intentionally misplace something like that ....

I also Copied Tamanna so she could get a good laugh.

Thanks, Shane

So what i replied?

I told him to "chill" and shared this following video with him

iOS vs Android typing speed

I love Friday night after work. Nothing is more relaxing than this.
Playing with two small electronic devices while waiting for dinner.
Other day I was wondering why it's hard to type on android keyboard.
I think I got my answer. I'm surprised to see the typing spped on iOS
keyboard. And the reason is iPhone keyboard has only 3 keys at the
bottom so it makes it easier to use your thumb where android has 6
keys at the bottom. So your thumb must be accurate to keep the typing
momentum. AnywYs I hope android will rethink about their keyboard
design. Btw, I wrote all this from an iPod touch :)

To Bangladesh Government, I'm Really Pissed!

I'm really getting pissed on some decisions government is taking lately. This is my second post in a week on this matter. I just talked to one of my x-colleagues who said he is been suffering to work on facebook applications via proxies. He said normal application takes so much time to load but flash content don't even load! How the hell these developers will work now? I know he is not the only one. Now lots of developers from Bangladesh develop facebook applications. I can understand their feelings. Does our government has the same feelings?

Dear Hasina,

Please unbanned FB as soon as possible!

p.s while i was writing this post i saw another news that amar desh is closed by the government. Now i'm wondering if Hasina will banned me from twitter/facebook/friendfeed/buzz and finally my own blog?

A beautiful story about a guy

Just heard about a guy from my mom who lost his parents like 10 yrs back when he was only 10. Since then he's been taking care of his 2 brothers and 1 sister. Sent them to school and hes been cooking by himself for them. Now he has a huge garden (made by himself) in front of his house and his brothers and sister are going to school everyday. Im going to meet this guy soon. No promise, but i will try my best to take an interview of this guy!

Last day in Dhaka...

I will remember this friend named Tipu who said don't forget the place that gave you so much. Thanks Tipu for reminding me one of very important things.

Yesterday, was a sad day for me to say Good-bye to my all wonderful colleagues at trippertlabs. I will never ever forget these guys who made each and everyday so joyful for me at the office.

Today was my last day in Dhaka. It's been 8 years since i came here. I completed my undergrad here, did work in 3 companies. And i know all these wouldn't happen if i didnt come to Dhaka. Personally, like other people i don't like Dhaka...but i will always be thankful for what i learned and got from staying here. And i hope one day Dhaka will be decentralized.

Going to join my Family in Sylhet tomorrow and spend couple of weeks before i leave the country....

Stay well everybody.

Buzz from Hasin Hayder

I liked the complete discussion on latest apple's move. specially what sajjad bhai said at the end

 Link to this post:
 http://www.google.com/buzz/110703083499686157981/Q2kTspJcGVv/Apple-is-playing-real-dirty-nah-apple-you-just

Apr 9 Hasin Hayder: #Apple is playing real dirty, nah apple, you just lost my respect. you blowed us badly by banning the Flash->IPhone compiler! sigh :(
Apr 10 Tawhid Khan: i told u before - thats what apple was and they are now, i guess they will fall again because of their monopoly attitude.... even i started to respect apple, but the way they are kicking adobe... not only adobe, but u cant really use any other 3rd party dev tools....
check this linkL

Apr 10 M Nasimul Haque: I think it's better not to sync friendfeed in buzz. Your tweets are already synched in buzz. Also it does not look good.
Apr 10 Abu Ashraf Masnun: Agreed to Nasim vai. I willingly left FriendFeed.
Apr 10 Hasin Hayder: Long time fan of friendfeed. But I have disabled friendfeed in buzz :)
Apr 11 TRIVUz Network: very sad!
Apr 12 Omi Azad: What happened by the way?
Apr 12 Hasin Hayder: Apple banned Adobe's Flash to IPhone app compiler :( @Omi Azad
6:58 am Herdian Ferdianto: doesn't matter for me, I'm not on the "mac" world anyway ;))
10:06 am Omi Azad: Well Microsoft can take the advantage and make silverlight available
for that platform/s. :)
12:33 pm TRIVUz Network: apple will ban silverlight too lol
3:27 pm M Nasimul Haque: Everything else is banned from iPhone/iPad. Not only Flash. You must write code in Apple's tools. i.e., with XCode in C, C++, Objective-C.

This is just insane. Someone should sue Apple for the monopoly.
3:48 pm Hasin Hayder: I just wonder what is European Union is doing! they always sue Microsoft! why not apple this time?
5:12 pm Sajjadul Hakim: Ok, here is an interesting question. I am just curious. Is this really Apple monopoly? Since clearly they will be loosing some programmers because of this, who would be more interested in Android or the upcoming Windows Phone 7. So that would mean a little less people creating apps for their iphone/ipod/ipad. Apple can probably make the case, that they did this because they prefer programmers who will be dedicated to them, i.e. respect their programming guidelines, GUI guidelines, and updates to the SDK.

On the other hand, I guess it can be considered as a monopoly, if they are forcing programmers to stop writing code that can work on multiple platforms (other than Apple's dream devices), in an effort to kill off the competition with lesser apps for them. I am not sure if the lawyers have a easy case here. Not that I know anything about law :p

In any case, lets wait a while to see how this turns out. Apple had changed their mind before :) Especially when they see the programming community with their sticks and torches. I mean, they just approved the Opera Mini app today. Who could have guessed that :)

One of My Most Favorite Movie Scenes

There are lots of movie scene i have in my memory. Yes, most of them are touching...i could say about some scenes from 8 mile, Indecent proposal, Roman holiday, A beautiful mind, Life is beautiful...etc. But one scene in my mind is really far memorable from all these i said above. Did you watch "Forrest Gump" ? if you do, can you remember when Tom Hanks was running in the middle of the movie for no particular reason?

Forrest_gump

here is the text that he had while he was running.....(this is my most fav movie scene)

That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd just run across Greenbow County. And I figured, since I run this far, maybe I'd just run across the great state of Alabama. And that's what I did. I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on going. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on going.

What's your favorite movie scene ?

Skype 2.1 Sound Setup for Ubuntu:Jaunty

I had almost similar problem on Intrpid Ibex, and now faced it on Jaunty to setup sound properly for Skype 2.1. What was the problem? I wasn't able to hear though receiver was able to hear me clearly. New Skype for Linux 2.1 supports PulseAudio. This is certainly a blessings as PulseAudio is known as a standard sound server. But that was my main problem! In skype sound device option, i had only one option for sound In/Out and that was "PulseAudio server (Local)". I wanted to get rid of that (PulseAudio) so that i could use ALSA alternatively. Thought that would fix the problem and it did!

So i had 2 options to get rid of PulseAudio, i have to uninstall or stop it to get automatically setup on Skype. We can do it by...instead of uninstalling i did stop the auto selection...

gedit ~/.pulse/client.conf
#and then set
autospawn = no

save and exit. We are safe from pulseaudio now. And new Skype when it doesn't get the pulseaudio it uses alsa. Are we done here to get rid of this problem? Not really, if you are using a fresh copy of Jaunty then have a look here and do some important updates/install. Then we are fine .. (well at least for me it worked)

Let's have a look at my sound settings from the screenshots. Hope it helps if you are facing same problem like me.....
